Interior design has been absent from funeral parlors in Mexico for a very long time and fortunately, being this space a vital element for people, there have been some important changes in the standards dictated for this kind of projects.
The first challenge for DIN interiorismo team was to create a very warmth ambiance to set against the coldness and careless that prevails in the majority. Another major thing was the incorporation of color, a palette formed by gray purples and mustard yellows, that maintain the necessary soberness with a discrete and gentle luminosity.
The marble floors were already installed in the space when the project fell into the hands of this great team that decided to keep it (to avoid falling in absurd expenses) and they balanced it with wood and textiles to achieve the warm harmony they were seeking.
Arriaga funeral parlor is located in Pachuca, in Hidalgo, Mexico a town very well known for its former mining culture. Honoring this great tradition, elements such as gold, silver and copper were integrated to the concept and they also used them for the chapels of rest with names such as: Aurum, Argentum and Coprum.
An important space for the operation of this company is the exhibition and sale of urns and caskets. A showroom was incorporated into the program with all the necessary elements to make the right choice in such difficult times; there is also a flower shop and a cafeteria, two spaces very important for this kind of business. All the additional services were also integrated to the warmth interior design concept and the traditional elements of the mining heritage of the area in a very respectful image.
